Special note about Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders: Some headache, jaw pain and facial pain may be caused by a Temporomandibular joint disorder, often just called TMJ. Surgical and nonsurgical treatment options are available for advanced TMJ cases. This is one surgical specialty that Dental Associates does not perform. In the event a TMJ disorder is diagnosed, we work with our patient to find a TMJ specialist and refer the patient to that provider.
A dental implant is a small titanium rod that serves as the replacement for the natural root portion of a missing tooth. It offers a long term fix if you’re missing one, two, three, or even all of your teeth. And because the implant acts as a natural root, it helps maintain the health and integrity of the jawbone, preserving the bone needed for a strong, stable foundation for biting and chewing. Once the dental implant is placed in the jaw, the replacement tooth (or teeth in the case of several missing teeth), is securely connected to the implant. The result is a natural-looking tooth that acts, feels and looks just like a real tooth. Learn more about dental implants.
Everyone at Dental Associates wants to see you smile. And we want you to be comfortable. We understand that for some, going to the dentist is cause for anxiety. That’s why during some of our oral surgery procedures we’ll sedate you. This is often called sedation dentistry, and it simply means we use medication to help you relax. There are various forms of medications that can be used and your dentist and oral surgeon will discuss what the best sedation method is for you.
Emergency Dental Care
The need for oral surgery is most often recommended by your Dental Associates general dentist, and therefore usually not an emergency. However, if you have tooth pain that is severe and you feel you need to see a dentist right away, call Dental Associates. Learn more about emergency dental care.
