Twice daily brushing of your teeth, daily flossing, and seeing your Dental Associates dentist twice a year will help your teeth, gums and entire mouth stay healthy. Being proactive about your dental care will also have a positive impact on your overall well being. Your mouth is the gateway to your body. You need to use it to get nourishment to the rest of your body by what you eat and drink. And in order for your teeth and mouth to perform their duties properly, they need to stay healthy. Taking a proactive approach with your personal oral hygiene and building a relationship with Dental Associates will help keep it healthy, and will keep you smiling for a lifetime.
Your Personal Dental Team
Dental Associates is a well-established, innovative family dental practice providing general dentistry as well as specialized dental care in the areas of pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, periodontal surgery, oral surgery, endodontics, and dental implants. What sets us apart is this “complete care under one roof” model that features dentists and dental specialists from a single dental clinic. We are a team; a team focused on helping you smile bigger, smile brighter, and smile more.
When you choose Dental Associates as your dental provider, you will be a part of a personal team who will give you the highest level of personal care. This team starts with your general dentist, a dental hygienist, and support staff. Every time you visit Dental Associates, which should be a minimum of twice a year, these are the friendly faces you'll see. And, if you need more complex care, our specialists are available to join your team in the Dental Associates location you visit. No need to go somewhere else. A simple walk down the hall will get you to the specialist you need. Having specialists in all our facilities is just one more way we express our commitment to personalized care; to your care.
With Dental Associates, you will get:
Compassion: Every member of the Dental Associates staff, from the dentists, dental assistants and hygienists, to the support staff is compassionate, caring, and understanding. Your peace of mind, comfort, and well being is first and foremost.
Experience: Our well-trained doctors use industry-approved products, the safest and most successful techniques, and state-of-the-art equipment to deliver you the best care possible.
Lifelong care: Dental Associates offers you complete family dental services, both general and specialty dentistry. All your oral health needs are easily met and easily accessible because it’s all under one roof.
Maintaining Your Oral Health
Your Dental Associates team will be with you every step of the way with whatever oral care you need. And by being proactive and maintaining good oral health at home, your lifetime of smiles will be achieved easier. For optimal oral health, brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, floss daily and visit your dentist regularly (every six months).
By making brushing, flossing and visiting your dentist a habit, you can prevent oral problems from happening in the first place and catch those that do occur early. Prevention and early intervention is key to keeping your teeth strong, your gums healthy, your mouth happy, and you smiling.
Your Diet and Oral Health
Eating well and eating right affect your body and your mouth. Too much sugar is simply a no-no and can wreak havoc on your teeth. Too many sugar-filled sodas, sweetened fruit drinks or sugary snacks put you at risk for tooth decay and gum disease. When plaque comes into contact with sugar in the mouth, it creates acid that attacks the teeth and basically eats them away. This is tooth decay. It’s bad. But the good thing is it’s totally preventable.
To avoid tooth decay and to keep your mouth healthy:
- Drink plenty of water
- Eat a variety of foods from each of the five major food groups, including whole grains, fruits, vegetables, low-fat and fat-free dairy foods, and lean sources of protein such as lean beef, skinless poultry and fish, dry beans, and peas
- Limit snacking, and if you do snack, choose fruit, vegetables or a piece of cheese
- Choose food and drink options that have less sugars; refer to the nutrition information on the label to see the sugar content
For healthy teeth and gums and a lifelong healthy smile, simply think before you eat or drink. It’s what you eat and drink and when you eat it and drink it that affects your dental health. Eating a balanced diet and limiting between-meal snacks will optimize your oral health and overall health for your entire lifetime. And that’s worth smiling about!
